What is wholegrain?

All grains start life as whole grains. In their natural state growing in the fields, whole grains are the entire seed of a plant. This seed (kernel) is made up of three key edible parts – the bran, the germ, and the endosperm – protected by an inedible husk. Only the inedible husk is removed from wholegrain to make it suitable for human consumption.

The inedible husk is removed, and rest of the grain is retained which is called- Wholegrain.

“Whole grains or foods made from them contain all the essential parts and naturally-occurring nutrients of the entire grain seed in their original proportions”.  Whole grains are generally seen as more nutritious than refined cereals, mainly due to their higher level of dietary fibers, minerals, and certain B-vitamins.

We use wholegrain oats in our GERBER® cereal product.
